Long Tail Theory

Chris Anderson, editor of Wired magazine, published his theory in 2006. This was a description of the way that the internet has transformed economics, commerce and consumption. His most significant examples include iTunes, YouTube and social networking sites. If a product was released years ago such as a song and it becomes popular again because of a TV show such as X Factor or Britain's Got Talent people go to itunes and download it maybe because they never bought it the first time. This results in the track entering the charts again years after its release and becoming even more popular.
